O heavenly Word

(short introduction)

O heavenly Word, eternal Light,
Begotten of the Makers' might,
Who, in these latter days, are born
For blessing to a world forlorn;

Our hearts enlighten from above,
And kindle with Your own true love;
That we, who hear Your voice today,
May cast earth's vanities away.

O let us not, for evil past,
Be driven from Your face at last;
But with the blessèd evermore
Behold You, love You, and adore.

To God Creator, God the Son,
And God the Spirit, Three in One,
Praise, honor, might, and glory be
From age to age eternally.
