There is a book whose lines when read,
A heavenly truth imparts,
It's all the text a scholar needs:
Found in pure minds and hearts.

And works of God above, below,
Within us and around,
Are pages in that book, also
To show how God is found.

Faith is our fixed unswerving root,
Hope our unfading flower,
Our deeds of love the Spirit's fruit,
The glory of God's bower.

You, who have given us minds to know
And love with which care,
Give us pure hearts with you to go,
And read you everywhere.
