Creator of the earth and sky,
ruling the firmament on high,
clothing the day with robes of light,
blessing with gracious sleep the night.

That rest may comfort weary souls,
and brace again to useful toil,
and soothe awhile the harrassed mind,
and sorrow's heavy load unbind.

You let the secret heart acclaim,
you let our tuneful voices name,
'round you our chaste affections cling,
to us you wisdom, reason bring.

Pray we Creator and the Child,
and Holy Spirit, ever wild,
blessed Trinity, whom all obey,
guard you your sheep by night and day.
