There's a wideness in God's mercy

(one verse introduction)

There's a wideness in God's mercy
like the wideness of the sea;
there's a kindness in God's justice,
which is more than liberty.
There is welcome for the sinner,
grace and mercy from above;
there compassion of the Savior;
gladness in the light of God's love.

In no other place are earth's sorrows
felt more than they're felt in heav'n;
in no other place where earth's failings
have such kindly judgement giv'n.
There is plentiful redemption
in the Life that rises from death;
there is joy for every seeker
in the holy touch of God's breath.

For the love of God is broader
than the measure of the mind;
and the heart of the Eternal
is most wonderfully kind.
Let us pray to always do justice,
pray that we will love mercy, too;
Let us pray to walk more humbly
with our God, who ever is true.
