Evening and morning

(one verse introduction)

Evening and morning, sunset and dawning,
Wealth, peace and gladness, comfort in sadness,
These are your works; all the glory be yours!
Times without number, awake or in slumber,
Your eye observes us, from danger preserves us,
Causing your mercy upon us to shine.

O God, O hear- us, pardon and spare- us;
Calm all our terrors, blot out our errors,
That by your eyes they may no more be seen.
Order our goings, direct all our doings;
As it may please you retain or release us;
All we commit to your loving, good hands.
